Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on Wednesday successfully launched geostationary communication satellite GSAT-7A onboard Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle GSLV-F11. The new satellite will substantially enhance the communication systems of the Indian Air Force.
After the 26-hour countdown that commenced on Tuesday, the rocket blasted off at 4.10 pm on Wednesday from the second launch pad at Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. GSLV – F11 is ISRO’s fourth generation launch vehicle.
It has successfully injected GSAT-7A into a Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit. The satellite is the 35th Indian Communication satellite built by ISRO to provide communication capability to the users in KU-band over the Indian region. The mission life of the new satellite is eight years.
