Russians voted in an election that saw Vladimir Putin win in the presidential election by claiming 75.91% of votes with 70% of ballots counted, the Central Election Commission (CEC) said.
So far, Communist Party candidate Pavel Grudinin got 13.39% of the vote and Liberal Democratic Party of Russia’s Vladimir Zhirinovsky received 6.34%, CEC said.
Putin thanked people who voted for him.
According to BBC, the scale of victory was a significant increase in his share of the vote from 2012, when he won 64%.
