TITA inks pact with University of Texas at Dallas

Telangana government has declared that its initiative of declaring 2020 as the Year of Artificial Intelligence was successful. The government, in its official report, recognized and appreciated the role of Digithon, the digital entity of Telangana Information Technology Association (TITA) in the application and imparting skills in AI. The government’s appreciation for its work in the AI area is a recognition for our efforts and we will continue to focus on developing skills in 2021 also, said TITA. Referring to World Economic Forum (WEF) report that estimated that AI will create 9.7 crore jobs by 2025, the Association said that it will make efforts to ensure enough talent pool is readied to meet the demand in that area. TITA urged students, faculty, individuals learning new skills to hone their skills in the AI area to grab opportunities in the field of Artificial Intelligence.
The government of Telangana declared 2020 as the Year of AI. On January 1, 2020, IT Minister KT Ramarao had launched the logo and website with voice commands that were based on voice recognition Natural language processing (NLP) technology developed by TITA’s Digithon.
As part of the initiative, prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, TITA took up various AI events like industry tours to companies working on Artificial Intelligence. As part of the early coding initiative, Digithon imparted coding skills to students from Government schools. Students have underground training in Scratch, Python-based coding. They are now equipped with skills with which they can develop games, quizzes and other features based on AI on their own. Students from various Government schools from Makthal, Krishna, Manuguru in Narayanpet and Atmakur and Amarchinta mandals of Wanaparthy district were trained in coding programming. The early coding programme of Digithon bagged Skoch Award recently.
Later, TITA in collaboration with the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) designed a special curriculum in AI and imparted skills to youth and students. As many as 523 individuals benefitted from the programme and received certificates in AI. Of these, 85 per cent of people landed AI-based jobs. Also, Digithon imparted coding skills virtually during the pandemic which benefitted 2600 individuals who included students and professionals.
TITA has been making renewed efforts since the announcement of 2020 as the Year of AI to date in the area with an aim to create a talent pool in AI and creating an infrastructure for the same. These efforts of TITA were appreciated by the government in its report that also said that TITA was more proactive than other partners with whom the government tied up for the AI framework.
Speaking on the occasion, TITA Global President Sundeep Kumar Makthala expressed happiness that the Association has trained over 3,000 people in AI and coding. Completion of AI-based training and subsequent recognition of the same work by the government gives us immense pleasure, Sundeep said. TITA chief said that WEF’s report points out that 9.7 crore jobs based on AI will be created by 2025 and  urged students, professionals to hone their skills in AI and coding to meet the requirements of future job prospects.
He said that the Association will continue its coding training in 2021 also. Makthala said training on the lines of UTD program will be imparted by experienced faculty and urged interested candidates to avail themselves of the opportunity by taking up the training in AI and coding.
