An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale hit off the Southern California coast, according to the US Geological Survey.
The US Geological Survey initially reported the quake was a magnitude-5.0, but it was later upgraded to magnitude-5.3.
The epicenter had a depth of 16.8 km. The quake centered about 57 km southwest of Channel Islands Beach, California, according to the USGS.
