Uttam exhorts people to question TRS, BJP leaders on failed promises

TPCC President N. Uttam Kumar Reddy today released letter written by party president Sonia Gandhi to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the issue of corona virus.

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President & MP  N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Thursday exhorted people to question leaders of TRS and BJP on the non-fulfillment of promises they made with the people in elections.

Addressing a series of meetings as part of MLC election campaign for S. Ramulu Naik, the Congress candidate from Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda Graduates constituency, Reddy said that the TRS Government in Telangana and BJP Govt at the Centre did not deliver on the promises they made with the people. Instead of coming up with a progress report for the last seven years, the TRS and BJP leaders are now coming up with a list of new promises and shamelessly blaming each other for the failures. He exhorted people to question the leaders of both the ruling parties for non-performance. “Both TRS and BJP have no accountability. They must be questioned for every failure and this is possible only if Congress candidates in the MLC elections,” he said.

During a meeting at Kakatiya University, Uttam , along with Congress candidate Ramulu Naik, had an interaction with the students. The TPCC Chief recalled the role played by students of Kakatiya University during the Telangana movement. However, he said none of the students, who made huge sacrifices and risked their careers, benefitted from the formation of Telangana. Only the KCR family grabbed all the benefits and encroached upon the resources. He said that the TRS Government delayed withdrawal of cases registered during the Telangana agitation which prevented thousands of students from applying for government jobs. Further, he said no special exemption was given in recruitment drives for those who participated in the statehood movement.

TPCC accuses TRS Govt of neglecting education sector

He said that the TRS Govt reduced the overall budget for the education sector and did not appoint a single teacher or non-teaching staff in the last seven years. He said that the vacancy position in all universities of Telangana was the worst in the country and almost all universities do not have a full-time Vice Chancellor. “With no funds and no faculty, the quality of education in the universities took a serious hit,” he said adding that the overall in-take in all professional and non-professional courses in Telangana have come down drastically due to the negligent attitude of TRS.

Later, the TPCC President had a meeting with the advocates at Warangal Court. They discussed various problems being faced by the lawyers’ community in Telangana State. He slammed the TRS Government for neglecting the welfare of advocates by not releasing the funds allocated for advocates’ welfare. Further said other demands including Rs 50 lakh insurance coverage, Rs 10,000 monthly stipend to junior advocates, modernisation of libraries and health cards to advocates and their family members also remained unimplemented. Most importantly, he said that the TRS Govt did nothing for the safety of advocates.

Speaking about the brutal murder of lawyer couple, Vaman Rao and Nagamani on  February 17 in Peddapalli, Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that the Chief Minister did not even issue a single line statement condemning the murders. Further, he alleged that a few police officials were trying to hush up the case as the accused persons belong to the ruling TRS. He reiterated the demand that a court-monitored CBI enquiry should be ordered into the murders. He also demanded implementation of Advocates’ Protection Act in Telangana State.

“Telangana BJP President Bandi Sanjay often visits Bhagya Lakshmi Temple at Charminar where he derives political mileage from its location. But he never spoke about the illegal demolition of Nalla Pochamma Temple in the Secretariat. Similarly, MIM President Asaduddin Owaisi talks about Babri Masjid demolition. But he is defending CM KCR over demolition of two mosques in the Secretariat. This clearly shows that both BJP and MIM are using religion and religious places for political gains,” he alleged.

Reddy alleged that CM KCR had opposed establishment of an airport in Warangal. He slammed the BJP Govt for not establishing Railway Coach Factory at Kazipet which was promised in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act 2014. He said these projects could’ve created hundreds of jobs for the local youth.

The TPCC Chief, along with Ramulu Naik and other leaders, also addressed a meeting INTUC office in Warangal.
