Paddy Purchased on Record Scale 58% Procurement Completed Shortage of Gunny Bags Resolved : CSC

Wholesale price index inflation declines to near 2-year low in June | news updates

Hyderabad, May 12 (NSS): In 2019-20 Yasangi Season Civil Supplies Corporation (CSC) achieved great record by crossing last highest procurement in Telangana history said Civil Supplies Corporation Chairman  Mareddy Srinivas Reddy.

Addressing  at mediapersons today at Civil Supplies Bhavan, Srinivas Reddy  said that in this Yasangi season it purchased Rs. 7,129 crores value 39 Lakh Metric Tons (LMTs) of paddy from 7 lakh farmers and paid Rs. 3,715 crores in their accounts directly.

Previous highest purchase in Yasangi was in 2016-17 with 37.21 Lakh Metric Tons and in last year 2018-19 with 37.05 Lakh Metric Tons. But, this year within a short period of one month time this was landmark was crossed. In this Yasangi season till now Civil Supplies Corporation has purchased 39 Lakh metric tons of paddy from 7 lakh farmers through 6,319 Paddy Procurement Centres. Till now 58% of paddy purchase is completed. Paddy procurement is still in process across the state, he said.

In this Covid-19 pandemic situation, even with no support from Central Government Telangana Civil Supplies overcame the shortage of Gunny bags. At the start of Covid-19 pandemic Civil Supplies Corporation had only 7.55 crore gunny bags. On its own sources it had collected another 8 crore gunny bags. In this pandemic situation government had kept near about 16 crores gunny bags available for farmers.
