HC stays Govt decision on TTD

The High Court of the State today stayed the orders of the state government appointing special invitees to Tirumala Tirupathi Devasathanam (TTD) board. It issued interim orders to this effect. The state government recently issued the GO appointing huge number of the special invitees to the board.

However, three petitions filed challenging the order of the state government. The petitions alleged that the petitions were filed by violating the rules of the board and added that the decision of the state government would create problems to the ordinary devotees of the temple. The petitioners have also said that the orders issued by the state government were appeared to be damaging the autonomous status of the board. However the counsel for the state government told the HC that the appointments were taken by following the existing rules of the board.

Meanwhile, State Endowments Minister Vellampally Srinivas reacted on the issue. He said that the HC might have issued the stay orders on the implementation of the GO on the basis of technical issues. He said that they would observe the orders of the high court and take a decision on the issue of making an appeal against those orders.
