Govt urges HC to Withdraw stay on fund release

High Court

The State Government today urged the high court of the state to withdraw its stay orders on the release of the funds. The Chief Secretary of the State Somesh Kumar has told the HC that the state government had issued the orders to release ₹58 crore for paying the compensation in land acquisition cases and not for the payment of the fee for fighting contempt of Court cases.
Somesh told the HC that the petitioner had misled the court over the issue. He also told the HC that the state government was not able to present the actual facts before the court during the arguments in the case. The advocate general of the state BS Prasad urged the HC to take up an urgent hearing on the issue.
Meanwhile a division bench of the HC expressed its surprise over the manner in which the GO was written. It asked the state government about the main objective of the GO and confusing language used in the GO. It made it clear that the language of the GO had conveyed the meaning that
It was meant to meet the expenditure in the contempt of court cases. The HC later adjourned the case till Monday next week.
