This year under the backdrop of one of the pillars of Azadi ka Amrit MahostavResolves@75, Fit India Mission has conceptualised Fit India Freedom Run 2.0 to commemorate 75 glorious years of India’s Independence. A nationwide run from August 13 to October 2, 2021, is being organized on the concept of “Physical/Virtual Run’ in order to encourage fitness and free ourselves from laziness, stress, and anxiety, among other diseases.

The Fit India Mission was launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi ji, in 2019. The Fitness Pledge reads I promise to myself that I will devote time for physical activity and sports every day and I will encourage my family members and neighbours to be physically fit and make India a fit nation. It also calls the citizens of India to include at least 30 minutes of physical activity in their daily life—FITNESS KI DOSE AADHA GHANTA ROZ.

Taking forward the ‘It can be run anywhere, anytime!’ spirit of the Fit India Freedom Run, the English and Foreign Languages University, under the dynamic leadership of Prof. E. Suresh Kumar, Vice Chancellor who is also a Member, University Grants Commission, New Delhi,  has organised a series of events for its staff. As part of the series of events, the University organized the Fit India Freedom Run 2.0 in the University Joggers’ Park for the members of the faculty at its headquarters in Hyderabad this morning. Several teachers enthusiastically participated in the run expressing their solidarity in practicing Fitness Ki Dose Aadha Ghanta Roz.

Earlier, the university had organized the Fit India Freedom Run 2.0 for the members of the non-teaching staff, contractual employees, and the security personnel in a phased manner following the COVID-19 protocol of avoiding large gatherings.
